Dish Network or DirecTV Programming
Comparing Satellite TV Programming:
There are two major satellite TV providers and if you have decided to make the jump to satellite, then it is time for you to decide which one will serve you best. Satellite TV has a lot to offer in the way of home entertainment and you will want to be able to take advantage of every benefit your provider has available.
There are some categories in which there is little or no difference between the Dish Network and DirecTV. These areas include:
• Transmission Quality – both of these services transmit in 100% digital, crisp, clear picture and sound.
• Customer Service – they both offer online customer service with downloadable manuals and installation guides, online billing, emailing statements, and upgrading your package online
• Parental Control – again, both services have easily accessible parental controls
Where you will find the biggest difference is in programming and, most notably, in sports programming. DirecTV has more NFL football, more major league baseball, more NBA basketball, and more NHL hockey. DirecTV also has the exclusive rights to some sports channels, although it does cost a bit more to get them. Dish Network, however, does have sports programming and is very strong in international sporting events.
If soccer or cricket is your thing, then the Dish Network is the way to go. As a matter of fact, international programming and foreign language channels are one of the programming strengths of the Dish Network. These channels can be great for educational purposes, keeping up with other cultures, or staying in touch with what is going on in your family’s homeland or ancestral land. International programming is a great way to learn a new language or keep up with world news.
Both the Dish Network and DirecTV have satellite radio stations available with their package deals. Dish Network has Sirius Satellite Radio and DirecTV has XM channels. While there are some price differences between Dish
Network and DirecTV, they are not substantial. The real question that you need to ask yourself concerning price is what package you are truly looking for. For example, if you absolutely must have premium movie channels, you will end up paying more at either company than if you only want a basic channel lineup. Whichever company you decide to use as your satellite TV service provider, you are guaranteed to have better customer service and more value for your money than you would with cable TV. |
